1. Aquafina Pure Fashion Award 2007

    Mr. Huy won ?Best Favorite Design? in Vietnam?s Aquafina Pure Fashion 2007 Contest. He is currently a stylist for two famous magazines ?Tiep Thi Gia Dinh? & ?The Gioi Van Hoa?. He will launch his own brand in this Nov 2008. 

2.  Aquafina Pure Fashion Award 2008
   Mr. Vuong has won 2nd prize in the Vietnam?s Aquafina Pure Fashion 2008 Contest for his first time joined. While he is studying in 2nd year Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design, he also has a job as the designer in famous brand HA GATTINI.

3. Triumph Inspirational Award 2008

Ms Afton CHEN (current student of RDI) won the Singapore's Triumph Inspiration Award 2008 and she will be representing Singapore to compete in the international finals in Beijing (July 2008).

In addition, 6 out 10 finalists competed in the national finals were from RDI.

 

3. Modern Menswear by Hywel Davis

In the latest book "Modern Menswear", Mr Jonathan SEOW (designer of Woods&Woods) was featured as one of the leading menswear designers internationally. He was featured together with other designers like Alexander McQueen, D Squared2, Dries Van Noten, John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood and Marc Jacobs. In the book, he mentioned he studied with Raffles Design Institute (Singapore). The book is available at major bookstores.

 

4. Alldressedup and Francesca Versace

Sven TAN graduated from RDI and won the Mercedes-Benz Asia and Singapore Fashion Awards. After his win, he went for all-expenses-paid study tour in Milan including a workshop with Giorgio Armani and an internship with DaimlerChrysler Advanced Design Italia in Como (Italy), he is now the Principal Designer of adddressedup by The Link.

In conjunction with Singapore Fashion Festival 2008, alldressedup will be presenting a collection in collaboration with Francesca Versace, niece of Gianni Versace.

 

5. Desmond YANG won IAF International Designer Awards 2007

Desmond YANG (graduate of RDI and designer and owner of Abyzz) emerged as the winner of the prestigious IAF International Designer Awards 2007 held in Taiwan, beating entries from 13 countries.

 

6. Cicilia Fransisca with Biyan Wanaatmaja

Cicilia (Indonesian, graduated with First Class Honours in Fashion Design) holds the position of Assistant Designer to Mr Biyan Wanaatmaja, Fashion Designer and Owner of BIYAN.

BIYAN is well-known as the market leader in Indonesia's high fashion industry and was featured in Harper Bazaar (Indonesia) with Cicilia as part of his design team.


7. Project Runway Malaysia

RDI hosted the Project Runway Malaysia and two Raffles Designers clinched the top two awards with Mr Felix CHIN (Winner) and Ms Alexandra YEO (1st runner-up). Alexandra graduated from RDI Singapore and prior to participating in Project Runway Malaysia, she also won the GAS Denim Deconstruction Competition and Singapore's Women Weekly Lingerie Competition.

8. Singapore Fashion Week 2007

The School is proud to clinch the following awards sponsored by Topman/Topshop during the Singapore Fashion Week 2007:

(i) Best Menswear Collection by Andrew TANARDI (Indonesian)

(ii) Best Mixed Wear Collection by TSAI Ming Hung (Taiwanese, Singapore PR)

(iii) Best Group Collection by RDI

In addition, the School collaborated with the Straits Times - Urban to produce a collection using newspapers to promote the importance of sustainability of design.

9. Osaka HEP5 Contest

Mr TSAI Ming Hung, winner of Best Menswear Collection for Topman/Topshop also clinched one of the top prizes in Osaka HEP5 Contest. He was one of the few non-Japanese contestants to win the award. He also took part in the same contest in the previous year with his fellow school mate, Ms Jutarut OVAS (Thai).

 

10. "Me & My Pet" Competition by IKEA

In conjunction with Singapore Design Festival, Raffles Designers were challenged to create a collection based on materials found in IKEA. The School was glad to have Ms Anna Efverlund (Senior Designer, IKEA) to be the mentor of this project. The collection was showcased during the Singapore Design Festival.

 

11. Uniform Designs

Besides the above achievements, Raffles Designers also took on industry projects like designing uniforms for companies. Besides designing for STB's Customer Service Officers' uniforms, the students have designed for:
